The Headies Awards, which honors the Nigerian music scene, will take place on September 4th, 2022 at the COBB Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
The full list of nominees for the 15th edition of the prestigious Headies Award was announced earlier today and some Ghanaian musicians were given nods in the various categories.

NEKTUNEZ
The U.S based Ghanaian producer, Nektunez was nominated in the ‘BEST STREET HOP ARTISTE’ category with the song ‘AMENO AMAPIANO REMIX’ featuring Goya Menor. He’s in contention for this award with the likes of Bella Shmurda, Mohbad, Naira Marley, and Portable.
GYAKIE
Talented Ghanaian singer-songwriter Jackline Acheampong better known as Gyakie is a possible Headies awardee having been nominated in the ‘BEST WEST AFRICAN ARTISTE OF THE YEAR’ alongside other Ghanaian heavyweights like Amaarae and Kidi.
KIDI
Multiple award-winning Ghanaian songwriter and singer KiDi is another Ghanaian music act nominated at this year’s Headies. KiDi was nominated in the ‘BEST WEST AFRICAN ARTISTE OF THE YEAR’ along with Gyakie, Amaarae, Aya Nakamura (Mali), and Nelson Freitas from Cape Verde.
AMAARAE
Amaarae is a very known Ghanaian singer and songwriter in the Nigerian music space. It doesn’t come as a surprise with the announcement as a nominee at the 2022 Headies. She was nominated in the ‘BEST WEST AFRICAN ARTISTE OF THE YEAR’, the third Ghanaian in this same category. She will be up against KiDi, Gyakie, Aya Nakamura, and Nelson Freitas for this award.
