Rising Nigerian singer-songwriter, Ayra Starr under the imprint of Mavin Records delivers the label’s first long length project of 2021 and as well her debut studio album dubbed ’19 & Dangerous’.
’19 & Dangerous’ houses eleven well-crafted songs with a single guest slot which makes way for Warner Music artist Ckay on track six titled ‘Beggie Beggie’
The new project was worked on by producers like Don Jazzy, London, Louddaaa and the legendary Sir Victor Uwaifo’s descendant, Andre Vibez.
Lastly, all eleven tracks on the project was mixed and mastered by the talented Johnny Drille.
’19 & Dangerous’ opens with Cast (Gen Z Anthem), the first single on the tape. Speaking about the song, Ayra Starr said;
In Nigeria, when we say somebody is ‘cast’, it’s like, ‘Everybody knows her. She’s been around.’ So, I always get a lot of advice: ‘Ayra, don’t go and cast.’ Even with the smallest thing, a woman has to be a hundred times more careful than a guy. She can’t go to this place; she can’t do that because she doesn’t want to cast. The smallest thing can ruin a woman’s reputation. But I’ve come to this industry to break boundaries. So, if I cast, let me cast. In the beginning of the song, I used an Eartha Kitt interview, one of my favourite interviews of all time. She said, ‘Life is not problematic. We make it problematic.’”
