BNXN (Buju) Addresses Spitting Incident In New Statement | SEE DETAILS

In a statement, Nigerian artist BNXN, aka Buju, denied worsening his police assault situation by spitting in the face of a Nigerian police officer.

The singer, who made this statement on August 18 via Twitter, defended himself in the wake of the escalating controversy, saying, “My since-deleted tweet stating that I spat in a police officer’s face was an idiomatic expression to say I disrespected a police officer to his face and not the literal way people may have taken it on social media. In any form, I oppose violence and abuse directed at police.

BXNX thanked everyone for their kindness and concern, but he also argued for a private location where he could concentrate on his craft and talked about the assault he suffered at the hands of police officers yesterday.

The BNXN and Nigerian police officers assault scandal happened on August 17th, after recordings of the artist being flanked and verbally harassed by armed police officers appeared online.

After the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Nigerian Police’s public relations officer, released a statement promising Nigerians that the officers will be held accountable. He also stated that he would face punishment for his acts in response to BNXN’s now-deleted tweet in which he claimed to have spit in the face of a police officer.
