
Ghanaian rapper and songwriter M.anifest has announced the release of his highly anticipated sixth studio album, New Road & Guava Trees, under the prestigious hip-hop label Mass Appeal, co-owned by Nas and Peter Bittenbender. The album, a rich tapestry of sounds and stories, features collaborations with a diverse array of international and African artists, including Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Ghanaian highlife duo The Cavemen., King Promise, Darkovibes, South African rapper A-Reece, and Bien from Kenyan group Sauti Sol.
Inspired by his childhood in Madina, Ghana, the album’s title, New Road & Guava Trees, reflects M.anifest’s journey of growth and new beginnings. He explains that the name draws from his experiences growing up in a neighborhood called New Road, where a guava tree symbolized resilience and the promise of fresh starts. This theme of personal and artistic evolution is woven throughout the project, which was recorded across Accra, Seattle, and Los Angeles over nearly two years.
The 14-track album is a masterful blend of hip-hop, Afrobeat, and highlife, showcasing M.anifest’s signature introspective lyricism alongside infectious, danceable rhythms. Production credits include Grammy-nominated producer GuiltyBeatz, long-time collaborator Budo, and MikeMillzOn’Em, ensuring a polished and dynamic sound. Among the standout tracks is the lead single Puff Puff, which features The Cavemen. and Flea, merging hip-hop, jazz, and highlife into a vibrant sonic experience. Other highlights include Eye Red, a poignant exploration of youth struggles and systemic failures; Wine and Blues, a reflective anthem on resilience; and Hang My Boots, a soulful collaboration with King Promise about choosing love over chaos. The album closes with Second Hand, a contemplative piece on life’s cyclical nature.
With New Road & Guava Trees, M.anifest continues to push creative boundaries while staying deeply connected to his Ghanaian heritage.
