Oxlade Bridges Generations with ‘OFA’: A Fusion of Vintage and Modern Afrobeats

On OFA (Oxlade From Africa), Afro-fusion sensation Oxlade gracefully navigates geographical, temporal, and sonic realms. The artist describes OFA as “a combination of vintage, classical African music and modern-day Afrobeats,” sharing that the project travels through time and rhythm. The album embodies the rich sounds many grew up listening to, while embracing contemporary Afrobeats influences.

Featuring collaborations with African legends like Bobi Wine, Fally Ipupa, Flavour, Wande Coal, and Sarkodie, Oxlade merges their pioneering spirits with his own fresh take on the genre. Speaking about the project, Oxlade says, “I’m continuing the legacy the legends that came before me started.”

Titled after the Yoruba word for “arrow,” OFA is steeped in meaning, with Oxlade echoing Fela Kuti’s belief that music is a weapon for healing humanity. Through his hypnotic falsetto and powerful message, Oxlade’s OFA stands as a bridge between generations and an offering of hope and inspiration to listeners everywhere.
