Darkovibes ft Runtown – Understanding Love (Extended Version)

Darkovibes has been quite dormant this year as compared to last year’s streak of accomplishments. He returned to active social media engagements, announcing subtly via tweets and photos captions his intentions of releasing new music soon. The Ghanaian singer-songwriter so far this year has been spotted working on new music with Wizkid, Bella Shmurda, Killbeatz, D-BlackKwesi Arthur and many other big names in the African music domain.

On April 23rd 2021, Nigerian singer Runtown released the reloaded version of his Soundgod Fest Compilation which had Darkovibes featured on 6 songs signifying the duo’s compatibility and seamless vocal synergy.

Understanding Love‘, an Afrobeats-Reggae infused masterpiece is one of the records receiving enormous traction on the compilation. Darkovibes keeps up the vibe of the tuneful masterpiece with a mellow extended version of the song, opening up to stanzas of endearments.

Co-produced by the Grammy-winning record producer, Killbeatz and his protege, Highlander alongside Samsney on the mastering fronts, this registers as Darkovibes preliminary output of the year as he prepares to take us a sonic journey with his genre-bending style of music.

Yung Pabi – Banga

The last song that “Guy No” put out, broke into the top 60 most played songs, just ask Ghud Music and Muse Africa, and now the guy is back again with another one.

He calls this one “Banga”, a hip hop and drill-themed song, which highlights Pabi’s die-hard spirit with a core message that underlines the difficulties of releasing songs as an independent artist while underscoring his readiness to defy the odds and keep dropping bangers.

Pabi also announces his openness to working with an investor on this journey he is poised to excel in. Having heard the song, we really can’t disagree, “Banga” is definitely another banger headed for the pinnacle of the charts.

Buju – Outside

The Spaceship Entertainment signed artist, Buju continues to impress his fans and music critics with very output. He’s been on a hot streak of form this year, with quick-fire guest appearances on some of the biggest songs making charts in Nigeria in 2021 so far.

His immaculate delivery on Ladipoe’s ‘Feeling‘, a feature which has seen him become the focus of interest since it dropped.  He also made a mesmeric cameo appearance on Blaqbonez’s “Bling” alongside Ghana’s Amaarae.

The song ‘Outside’ registers as Buju’s first solo record of the year.  On “Outside”, Buju taps into his creative consciousness and relays his journey to self-realisation. A smooth iteration of the hustler’s anthem, the track’s airy melodies suggest an attainment of confidence only the singer’s hard work can inspire.

On the production fronts, we have the talented Blaise Beatz working the magic with Buju, making sure all vocals and instrumentations are in sync.

WurlD ft. Erica Banks & Amaarae, Kida Kudz & Cuppy – Bossy Part II

Nigerian Alte singer, Wurld releases makes an interesting twist with his ‘Bossy’ single, the first track off his acclaimed ‘AfroSoul Deluxe’ EP.

He links up with American rapper, Erica Banks and Ghanaian-American singer, Amaarae to create an impeccable sequel for his ‘Bossy’ record.

The original version of the “Bossy” song featured Nigerian artists Cuppy & Kida Kudz. They are joined on Part two by Erica Banks and Amaarae.

Sean Tizzle – Know Person

Talented Nigerian singer-songwriter Sean Tizzle has releases a new number which he entitles ‘Know Person’.

Sean Tizzle returns from the short breather with a sublime record for the streets and didn’t disappoint per usual .

‘Know Person’ serves as the singer’s second output for 2021, a follow-up to his previously released body of work, the ‘Where You Been’ EP.

Davolee – Love

Nigerian rapper, Davolee evinces his singing prowess on his new single titled “Love”.

The theme of the song is contrary to the more popular romantic love but instead Davolee sings about the “Hustle” and showing love to his fellow hustlers.

This is not a side to Davolee that is entirely new to listeners as he has shown his vocal dexterity in previous singles such as “Pepper” and “Oya Gbeff” featuring Olamide.

Magnom – Don’t Break It

After an extended silence, Magnom has decided to release a single he calls “Don’t Break It”. The song was produced by Magnom himself which is also something to be excited about since we haven’t heard a lot from the ace producer in recent times.

Don’t Break it was inspired by playful romantic and sensual banter between a couple. It also reflects a part of his ideals on how a relationship should be; playful, respectful, sensual and filled with assurance. His lyrics express an adorable boundary respecting possessiveness, the kind that lovers have when they want to always be around each other.

Magnom as a producer has come to be known for his genre bending and fusion abilities and this is no exception to that. He chose to use steel drums as the leads and interlaced them with some synth. The melody and notes give you Caribbean carnival vibes while the percussion & bassline bring you back home, thus maintaining a reverberating West African Essence.

A-Q ft Chike – Breathe

Nigerian rapper and CEO of 100 Crowns , AQ (also known as Gilbert Bani) puts out a new studio project dubbed ‘Golden’, an album succeeding his last album released last year entitled, ‘God’s Engineering’.

The album embodies 7 tracks with a time scale of 19 minutes and features only two artists, BadBoyParis & Chike. The rapper announced the album himself this morning on his Twitter page saying;

Having the most powerful voice in Hip-Hop right now means I always have to live up to it. This project is dear to me, and I hope it travels far and is deeply felt by everyone who listens to it. Ladies and Gents, I present to you, “GOLDEN”

‘Breathe’ featuring Nigerian crooner, Chike is one of the songs with high prospects and definitely our favorite on the tape.

Jay Bahd – You Can’t Show Me Nattin

Ghanaian rapper and member of the Life Living Records music collective, Jay Bahd channels his inner Poseidon into his new single titled ‘U Can’t Show Me Nattin’.

The thunderous-voice rapper recollects some unpleasant history as a young guy trying to make ends meet in the streets of Kumasi.  Instinctive on being a demon as he iterates in the chorus, Jay Bahd recalls moments where he use to indulge in snatch thefting and his gang affiliations.

‘U Can’t Show Me Nattin’ encapsulates Jay Bahd’s tough life experiences concurrently giving good vibes as he flows seamlessly on the DJ Fortune DJ produced piece.
