Mayorkun – Let Me Know

Mayorkun’s latest release is accompanied by plenty excitement from his fans and music lovers who have eagerly anticipated a new track drop since his last in December of 2020; a year that set the bar high with multiple #1 hit singles released including ‘Geng’ ‘Of Lagos’ and ‘Betty Butter’ with Davido that dominated the charts as well as playlists across several music real estate. Same year, he was featured on Davido’s A Better Time album and would later earn his debut on BBC 1Xtra A List for the fan-favourite track ‘The Best.’ Far as the 2021 year goes, Mayorkun continues to evolve his profile as an authority in music. Not only has he collaborated on songs by many profiled musicians, making him arguably the industry’s most featured artiste, he has also aligned with global brands like Budweiser, Moet Hennessy and more recently Coca-Cola.

Now that Mayorkun appears to be settling well in this echelon, he premieres a brand new single today titled “Let Me Know,” which is a smooth and earnest dose of Afrobeats with romance at its heart. The track is Mayor’s first solo release in almost nine months and is coming amid speculations of an album project especially from his fans who have clamoured that he is past due for a sophomore LP release. Nonetheless, it is a thrill to hear him buzzing fresh with such creative energy and we are expectant for the accompanying music video that’s scheduled to drop soon.

Strongman ft. Akwaboah – Nhyira

Ghanaian rapper and songwriter, Strongman calls on his former Sarkcess Music label mate, Akwaboah to trade fine textured verses on this Tubhani Muzik produced song titled ‘Nhyira’.

This is a follow up to his previous output ‘Statue’.

Tiwa Savage ft. Amaarae – Tales By Moonlight

Fresh from her critically acclaimed fourth studio album CELIA” – named one of the 10 Best Albums of 2020 by Time Magazine, Multiple award-winning Afrobeats star TIWA SAVAGE has made a glorious return with the release of the beautiful track “TALES BY MOONLIGHT” featuring AMAARAE.

“TALES BY MOONLIGHT” is the first official single from her forthcoming project “WATER & GARRI” which is set for release on August 20 through Motown Records. Tiwa describes the upcoming EP as her “most spiritual journey through music so far”.

Produced by Cracker Mallo, “Tales By Moonlight” references a children’s television program with the same title. The show was set in a village and featured an adult who would read old folk stories and fairytales to a group of young children. “On this song I remember (that) program I watched as a child and I’m basically saying that I want to experience the fairytales with the happy endings that were in those stories – this is the kind of love that I want to feel.” Tiwa comments. 

TALES BY MOONLIGHT” sees Tiwa team up with Ghanaian-American singer-songwriter AMAARAE. Highlighted as Beats 1 Breakout Star of 2020, Amaaarae adds her breathy soprano vocals over this soulful afro sound.

Wavy The Creator ft. Wurld – Harmonies

Multidisciplinary artist Wavy the Creator has linked up with WurlD on new single ‘Harmonies’, out 19th August.

An engrossing dose of modern Afro-pop, ‘Harmonies’ sees Wavy and WurlD trade sensual, hushed vocals amidst delicate piano chords and vibrant percussion. The first single release from her forthcoming EP that’s out next month, Wavy describes the track as “an Afro-futuristic sound, that is sexy, sultry, provocative yet a classy declaration of intimacy between two people”.
