Show Dem Camp’s ‘Afrika Magik’ is a Soulful Ode to Nigerian Nostalgia
On their new album ‘Afrika Magik,‘ Nigerian duo Show Dem Camp crafts a warm, immersive experience that feels like a late-night gathering steeped in shared memory. The project serves as a love letter to the sounds and stories of Nigerian pop culture, with its title paying homage to the Africa Magic channel that defined a generation.
From the opening track “Libations,” where they honor legends like Victor Olaiya and 2Face Idibia, Ghost and Tec position themselves within a rich musical lineage. The album floats on laid-back, alté-inspired production, allowing their smooth, reflective flows to take center stage. Tracks like “You Get Me,” featuring Tems, and the reggae-tinged “Pele” showcase their signature tenderness, while Moonchild Sanelly injects a burst of sensual energy on “Magik.”
The duo even ventures into amapiano on the closer “I’ll Wait,” proving their ability to evolve while staying true to their soulful core. ‘
Afrika Magik’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
