The injunction action filed against Black Sherif to prevent him from performing his songs was dismissed by the High Court (Commercial Division), Â presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Akua Sarpomaa Amoah.
On April 11, 2022, Shadrack Agyei Owusu filed a lawsuit against the performer, alleging among other things damages and more than GH 1 million for contract breach.
Additionally, he requested an injunction to prevent the musician from performing his songs until the lawsuit was resolved through trial.
Additionally, Mr. Agyei Owusu requested that Black Sherif’s music be preserved temporarily and that a receiver be named to oversee and keep track of the money earned from his concerts and music streaming services. If this isn’t done, the artist will spend the money, according to his attorneys.
After filing a defense and counterclaim for Black Sherif, the artist’s attorneys, led by Samson Lardy Anyenini, opposed the move.
The judge determined today that the plaintiff had not adequately shown why the injunction and other directives he requested from the court should be granted.
According to Justice Sarpomaa Amoah, if the request is allowed, the defendant will suffer great injustice.
The evidence indicating Black Sherif was no longer obligated by the contract after it was terminated, according to the court, has not been contested.
Thanking the court, Mr. Anyenini announced he was waiving the plaintiff’s costs since doing so would hinder current talks between the parties to settle the dispute peacefully.
